FEATURED COURSE
CERTIFICATE IN EMERGENCY
RESPONSE AMBULANCE DRIVING (CERAD)

James Ward is a FutureQuals approved Emergency Response Driver Tutor holding the full Level 4 Diploma (L4DERADI) and is authorised to deliver suitable emergency response (blue light) and standard/routine (PTS) driver training to your ambulance/health care company if you are authorised to receive such training (CQC registered service and have your own in-house FutureQuals centre accreditation).

The Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving (commonly referred to as the CERAD) qualification is the industry standard and is accepted by the NHS Trusts and private ambulance companies as the required standard to safely respond using blue lights and to claim exemptions to specific sections of Road Traffic Law. This course is nationally accredited on the QCF framework as a Level 3 qualification and is the only NHS Trust and Driver Training Advisory Group (DTAG) accredited training to enable authorised persons to respond using blue lights and emergency warning equipment. This course complies with requirements set out under Section 19 Road Safety Act 2006 (yet to be enacted) and affords exemptions under The Road Traffic Act 1988 and Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984.

This intensive course is usually delivered on a 3:1 student ratio and is normally structured over four (4) weeks although this can be amended to clients requests with agreement from FutureQuals.

Over the period of the course students will be required to complete a workbook of evidence (known as a portfolio), pass theory examinations (road signs and law) as well as successfully pass two driving assessments (routine and response). The course entails both classroom inputs in theoretical study as well as significant on-road driving time to cover the learner outcomes of this challenging course. The course will cover a range of vehicles from vans and ambulances to cars (rapid response vehicles) at the request of the clients needs. Whilst a category C1 driving licence entitlement is usually required (vehicles weighing over 3500kgs) if your company uses PLG class vehicles this course can be delivered to holders of category B (normal car) licence holders.
